BANG!

Yes, we're starting the new year off with a BANG! Literally! We've decided to give the go ahead to our contractor to renovate our kitchen. We're removing a wall and adding an island, along with new cabinetry and countertops! It is all very, very exciting! And a wonderful way to start the new year off!

On Sunday, we removed all of the items that we had in our kitchen cabinets, drawers, and pantry: dishes, flatware, bowls, platters, pots, pans, food, etc. We left our living room available for our kitchen storage and are, once again, living amongst boxes and bags! (Pup and I have had to get a bit more creative with our play time since space is limited, but it's been fun!) I think Brian and I were both slightly apprehensive on Sunday while we were repacking the kitchen that we literally unpacked only 50 days ago. It felt like there were so many unknowns, so many unanswered questions. However, once all was said and done (and packed), we started getting excited about the possibilities of our new space.

AND, once the demolition started yesterday, we became even more excited! It is evident that we made the right decision for us. Our cabinets and appliances were all removed yesterday. Both exits to the living room were taped off to prevent dust from filtering through the house during the demolition and construction of the kitchen, the majority of the flooring was removed, and a small make-shift kitchen was created toward the back end of the dining room.

There's no turning back now, folks. 2011 has come in with a BANG! A big bang!

  1. omg, Erin, you're weren't kidding! Full speed ahead! It's very exciting and will be beautiful in the end. It reminds me of our kitchen renovation when we had our mini-kitchen in the living room. It seemed to take forever, but yours seem to be going at a very fast pace. Hope it continues and you're cooking up a storm (not literally) before you know it. OX Gram

  2. Hi, Gram! Yes, they are progressing quite rapidly though I'm told the taking down is much faster than the putting up! Still, we are very excited about the progress and can't wait to cook dinner for you and Grandpa!
