Today was a very scary day. Our sweet puppy, Jack, ran out of the front door into the front (read: non-fenced) yard and took off swiftly across the busy street, barking at another dog walking politely with its owner. Unfortunately, he was clipped by an oncoming car and was brought back across the street over to us by the owner of the dog that was walking. He was limping and whimpering, and that is a sight and sound that will break your heart.
He was very alert and appeared to have only suffered minor injuries, but we rushed over to the OSU vet hospital and had him checked over.
Fortunately, it appears that he has only suffered a few scratches and a little bit larger puncture wound on his front left arm that is now stapled with one staple and wrapped with a red bandage. (The OSU vet hospital would probably say it's "scarlet".) It does not appear that he has suffered any internal injuries but we are to keep a close eye on him over the next few days. He is donning a cone for the fourth time in his puppy life, but he is still in good spirits and extremely happy to be home and around his Mommy and Daddy.
And we are extremely lucky and happy to have him home with only a few scrapes. That doggie means the absolute world to us and we have been on a serious emotional roller coaster today.
Accidents happen in the blink of an eye. We have been so extremely fortunate that this one wasn't worse than it was. We have shed many a tear over our sweet puppy, but are so, SO grateful that he is going to be okay.
We ♥ you, La-La. Get better soon.
