Maya's 1st Manicure

We are headed on vacation very soon and Kate really wanted to get her nails done.  So when we went to the nail salon, I signed Maya up for a little color too.  She had asked so sweetly and I thought it would be wonderful for the two of them to get a little pampering!  Plus, this was her first official manicure!

Of course, Maya wanted her nail color off 10 minutes after we got it done, but it still was pretty while it lasted!

Such a sweet girl!

A pro!

All pink!

So Maya!

So Kate!

So proud!

And so happy!
Now we're ready for vacation!  (But not really...)

Maya's First Haircut

I took Maya to get her first official haircut today!  I took her to the same place that we took Kate - Cookie Cutters - and I think Maya enjoyed it!  She's been with me to get my haircut and has seen Kate get hers cut too, so she was more than excited for it to be her turn!  Plus a surprise egg and a lollipop at the end never hurt!

Well done, beautiful girl!  You did a fantastic job!

Rise and shine!  It's haircut time!!

She chose the pink car to sit in.  #allpink

Ready to drive; but not so sure about the haircut thing...

Here we go!

So sweet.

And a little braid to top it off!

Be still my beating heart!  She takes my breath away!

Surprise egg!

We still don't even know what that is...

Cleanings...and Cavities

My little ladies went to the dentist today for teeth cleanings.  Unfortunately, we learned that Kate has five cavities.  Five.  My heart sunk.  Three are very small.  (Thankfully.)  Two are very big, like, most likely will need caps big.  I am devastated.  I have had cavities and caps my whole life.  Brian has not had a single cavity.  Looks like my little love inherited my chompers.  Sorry, babe.  What's even more is they don't make white caps for kiddos.  They are still stainless still silver looking.  There is something seriously missing in this market right now.  How have kiddo caps not changed in 30+ years?!

Anyway, our dentist mentioned that were her cavities are located they are most likely caused from snacking.  As in eating more than 3 meals and 2 snacks.  He said that she can have a bite of a carrot and that's considered a snack.  Conversely, so are jelly beans, obviously.  But we really need to try to stick with 3 meals and 2 snacks.  Done.  We will try.

The was the absolute last thing I wanted to hear from our dentist, but I guess there's nothing I can do about it now.  In better news, Maya's teeth were clean and sparkling from our visit.  It was her first official visit with a cleaning and so far we are good on her chompers.  (Also, thankfully.)

She is ready!

At least she thought she was...

Kate goes first!

Maya gets geared up!

Like a pro!

Picking out stickers and prizes.  The best part!

UPDATE: Kate received her fillings and caps with windows in two separate appointments over the summer and did phenomenally.  She was so good and even though the caps are visible if you are looking for them, they are not as bad because we had our dentist cut windows in them so that more of her tooth would show.  #success

It always seems like I stress over something and my kids handle it like champs.  They are so strong and brave and they surprise me every time.  What resilience!

Easter

My Mom and Scott joined us in Columbus, OH for Easter this year.  We kept it low key at the house with a little basket hunt in the morning and headed over to Brian's Aunt Lisa's and Uncle Joe's for an Easter soiree.

I'll stop typing and let the pictures do our holiday justice.

First thing's first: Easter morning sister hugs!

Basket hunting...not in the bathroom.

Perhaps in the living room?!

Could it possibly be under the only thing with a draped blanket
over top of it?!

Why, yes.  Yes, it could.  And is.  #shestoosmart

Love this.

Easter girls and Easter baskets!

Here's the night before shot of both of the baskets we put together.
Kate (3.5 yo) on the left, Maya (.5 yo) on the right.

I took one photo of Maya exploring her basket...

...and Kate had two things left in hers.  #whatbasket

Cardboard is so good on Easter morning!

I should note that Kate more or less saw everything in her Easter basket prior to this morning.  I took a photo of everything I had for both baskets to show Brian to see if he wanted to add/remove anything.  Kate, very often, goes through my photos on my phone.  A few days ago, she said to me, "I like all of the things in that photo."  #momfail  #imnotevengoingtotryanymore

Gearing up for a real Easter egg hunt!

[Sunny] Family photo.

Yummy plastic eggs!

I guess this is what you do when you have a
balanced adult:child ratio.
What happens when that ratio expands...on the child side?

Kate is tearing it up!

Gramma helps Maya with hers.

Because that's what Gramma's do best!

Oooh!  One way up there!

This one is yummy too!

Wait.  There's something inside all of these?!

Checking out the loot!

I put this on instagram and captioned it with:
"And the green grass grew all around all around..."
Because #itdid.

Happy Easter!

Standing

Listen.

Maya is standing.  Yes, in her crib, she just pulls herself up and stands.  And she loves it.  She's not even seven months old...

Stop growing so fast, Maya Bear.

Why don't these littles keep?!

But that smile!!

It just melts me!

Such a happy girl!

I guess it's officially time to lower the crib.  #isthisreallife
