My 36th Birthday

Today started my 36th trip around the sun!  At first I was feeling a bit old today.  36.  Like, almost 40, essentially.  But then I remembered one of my goals is to grow old, so this is just one step along the way!  (Although if time wanted to perhaps slow down a bit I also wouldn't be complaining!)

The girls and I made a cake and while I was working out they decorated it with Brian and we all partook in cake festivities after dinner.

I've always loved having a May birthday.  It's the start of summer, school's out or almost out, and it's just an exciting time of year.  It felt no different this time!  Happy birthday, me!

Side note: My Dad is 63 this year.  My Mom is 60.  My brother is 33.  My daughter's are 6 and 3.  And I'm 36.  Lots of threes and sixes in 2018!

Graduation Day

Today Kate graduated from her phenomenal Pre-K program (the Polar Bears) at BEARS Preschool.  We cannot say enough great things about this wonderful class and these amazing teachers.  Kate made some lovely new friends and fostered the relationships of the friends she knew from her Koalas class.  Never once did she come home saying she didn't want to go back.  It was quite the opposite really.  She looked forward to class every day she had it and it's a hard chapter to say goodbye to.  A lot of her friends are being scattered to different elementary schools, but we are going to do our best to keep in touch with everyone who has left a lasting impression on our hearts!  And there are a lot of people!

Side Note: Last night Kate asked me to leave her a surprise note.  So I stayed up late and decorated a thoughtful and inspiring note and left it for her to find.  I love the way her mind works!

Happy Graduation Day, Kate!

Kindergarten, here we come!

The name says it all!  Kate is bottom right.

Sisters ready for graduation!

Those are keys to my car she's holding.  Why do I feel like she'll
be making this same pose in just a few years really heading out
to drive my car somewhere?!

Polar Bear class!

+ teachers!
This is one of the songs the class sang and I thought it was so absolutely appropriate for graduation!  It is a great big world with so much to see:

Officially a graduate!

And this Goodbye song also stole my heart.  You see?!  This class is just AMAZING!

Mrs. DeCapua, Mrs. Boyle, Mrs. Montgomery, and Mrs. Weaver
(and Iceberg) with Kate.  A PHENOMENAL group of women

Kate and one of her besties from class - Reagan!

Wait, what?!

Fueling up after our return!  'Tis the season!  (Yes!)

Garage Sales & Girl Time!

This weekend we brought a TON of stuff over to Mimi and Papaw's house to partake in their community garage sale.  It is way easier when an entire community is hosting because #traffic!

Kate was in charge of selling cookies and bottles of water and she made out!  She made out so much that she decided she wanted to give each of her 22 classmates $1 for ice cream over the summer in the summer bags she passed out and she still had nearly $20 left after that!

It was a success to get rid of some stuff and not feel too cramped in our basement but somehow I still feel like we've got a ways to go in terms of tidying/organizing.  #oneday

Set up and prep for lots of sale!

Looks inviting to me!

The masterminds behind this venture!

Her note for her classmates.

She is so thoughtful!

In addition to the garage sale, Sarah and I went out for a little girl's afternoon.  We had lunch at Sweet Carrot and decided to get a little crafty and paint our own pottery.  I selected two little bird dishes because I couldn't paint just one and she selected a kitty piggy bank for her daughter, Rebekah.  She is moving to New York with her family in June and we are sure going to miss the company.

My bird dishes.

Sarah and the kitty bank!

I was hesitant to do more than color...clearly.

Girl time.  Yaass!

Final product.  Kate asked why the birds didn't have eyes and why
hers didn't have a heart...Well, my darling, because I'm a perfectionist
and I didn't want to not like these when I was done.  Sad, but true.
And not at all what I told her.

Costume Day

It was costume day at ballet today!  All the classes received their costumes for their recitals at the end of the ballet year (May/June).

You could just feel the excitement!

Such a happy girl!

Sister hugs!  💕

Love that smile!

Even Maya gets a turn!
